Job Description
The primary job functions of this position are to act as the equipment maintenance technician for the completion of scheduled and demand preventive/predictive equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and improvement of process and facility equipment, and to deliver 24 hour / 7 days a week maintenance support to the facility. The Mechanical Equipment Technician will also provide technical support in the design, installation, and qualification of new or modified process or facility equipment.
Responsibilities
- Performs or arranges for preventive and demand maintenance on a wide variety of equipment, including electrical, plumbing, and process equipment.
- Supports reliability-centered maintenance program(s) at the site by performing or coordinating completion of predictive maintenance activities such as equipment vibration analysis, oil/lubricant analysis, ultrasonic thickness or other non-destructive testing, infrared heat mapping, etc.
- Conducts and documents activities in a manner that maintains facility compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP), process safety management (PSM), and other applicable regulations.
- Provides maintenance expertise in support of manufacturing investigations, failure and root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action planning and execution.
- Strictly follows all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) procedures and supports efforts to improve facility EHS performance.
- Attends all required training and complies with the responsibilities associated with the maintenance technician position as detailed in the applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conducts maintenance-related training sessions as required.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment (I/O, sensors, actuators, communication faults) to minimize downtime.
- Calibrate and verify field instrumentation (proximity sensors, photoeyes, encoders, pressure/temperature transmitters).
- Document work in CMMS (e.g., Maximo) including failure codes, corrective actions, and parts usage
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests on off-shifts
