Lab and Facility Manager

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Lab Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing our shared lab environments (in vivo, chemistry and bio), managing vivarium staff, client onboarding, operating our autoclave and controlling our inventory of lab amenities such as dry ice, deionized water and more. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in laboratory procedures, microbiology, molecular biology, or related fields to build a strong network, facilitate a variety of research, and advance their career. The ideal candidate will possess experience in a research lab setting (academic, startup, commercial), familiarity with BSL2 operations and a bachelor’s degree in a scientific field.

This is an on-site only role at our Mountain View research campus. We work Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 5 pm.

Duties

• Manage bench and private lab rental clients and field any questions they may have on the facility.
• Oversee our shared equipment offerings, provide support, manage repair vendors
• Manage operations in our vivarium.
• Lead tours with prospective clients
• Assist with lab and vivarium procurement
• Delivery and connect gas cylinders to lab clients
• Cross train on other roles such as community development, events and receiving
• Understand the sales experience and provide support
• Support all aspects of a small business and research incubator

Qualifications/Requirements/Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or other life science
• Experienced with all major computer tools such as MS Word/Excel, ChatGPT, Adobe
• Customer service oriented
• Flexible; able to adapt to changing priorities.
• Familiar with animal research operations is a plus but not required
• Proficient communication skills (verbal, interpersonal, listening).
• Time management ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Team-oriented. We are a small and mighty team.
