Tissue Engineering Services & Solutions

Biotechnology; Research📍 Los Angeles, California

Tissue Engineering Services & Solutions (TESS) is developing next-generation biomaterials to regenerate complex human tissues. Every year, millions of people lose mobility, independence, and quality of life due to damage that the body cannot naturally repair. Current treatments largely focus on symptom management or invasive interventions, without restoring true biological function. TESS is advancing a new class of regenerative biomaterials designed to rebuild tissues, such as cartilage, enabling minimally invasive therapies that aim to restore function, not just manage disease. The company was founded by Tess De Maeseneer, PhD, a chemical engineer trained at KU Leuven and UCLA. During her PhD, she developed an injectable biomaterial for breast tissue reconstruction. She later conducted research in the lab of Dr. Nasim Annabi at UCLA, where she advanced biomaterials and biofabrication strategies for engineering complex tissues. Through TESS, she is translating cutting-edge biomaterials science into clinically relevant regenerative therapies.
