Elenae Therapeutics

Elenae Therapeutics, Inc. is a platform RNA Medicine company with cutting-edge AI-designed antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) technology that can target and penetrate tissues not previously thought accessible to ASOs, including heart, skeletal muscle, retina, and lung, with an excellent safety profile. Elenae is initially targeting microRNAs identified as major pathological contributors to several aging-related diseases that limit healthspan (heart failure, dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and aging-related sarcopenia), as well as rare diseases such as Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophies. The modality is based on locked nucleic acid (LNA) ASO mixmers with a phosphorothioate (PS) backbone, delivered once-weekly to once-monthly subcutaneously in saline. There is strong efficacy and safety data in mice, pigs and/or NHPs for all indications. Elenae was founded in 2021 by Anders M. Näär, PhD, Professor of Metabolic Biology at University of California, Berkeley. Elenae is housed in the Bakar Labs biotech incubator next to the UC Berkeley campus. Prof. Näär is on leave of absence and serving as full time CEO, and an ASO drug development team is in place.
